New on Pearson MyLab Beta

Pearson MyLab answers, right inside your homework

Canvas Quiz Solver shows Pearson MyLab answers under each question, in the same tab. It reads MyLab Math, MyLab Statistics and MathXL homework, and you type or pick the answer yourself. It stays off on tests, quizzes and proctored pages.

How it looks

MyLab answers show up under each question

An AI answer for your Pearson homework, where you already are: the MyLab player.

Canvas Quiz Solver reads the MyLab question on your screen and shows an AI answer right under it.

MyLab draws its math with its own player, so copying a question into a chatbot means retyping every fraction, root and exponent. Here nothing is copied. The extension reads the question as MyLab shows it, with your own values, and the answer card appears below.

Your values matter on MyLab. Pearson says its algorithmic variations generate "a new set of variables" for each student and each attempt (Pearson on MyLab and cheating). That is why an answer from a friend or a posted key is often right for someone else. The card answers the version on your screen, and when you click Similar Exercise and get new values, the new question gets its own answer.

Answers come from AI, so read them like a second opinion from a smart classmate. They can be wrong, and you are the one who types and clicks Check Answer.

Setup

How it works on Pearson MyLab, in three steps

About a minute: add the extension, open a MyLab homework, then turn it on for Pearson once.

  1. Add Canvas Quiz Solver to Chrome on your laptop

It is the same free extension Canvas students use. Pin it so the icon stays in your toolbar.

  2. Open your MyLab homework

MyLab Math, MyLab Statistics or MathXL, the way you always do. Open a question so the MyLab player is on screen.

  3. Click the icon, then "Turn on for Pearson"

You do this once. Allow the Chrome prompt, and the answer shows under the question. Type it into the MyLab answer box, or pick the choice, and click Check Answer.

What it reads

MyLab math answers, statistics, choices and blanks

Most MyLab homework is typed math with a few choices and drop-downs. This is what the extension reads today, in beta.

Reads Beta

  • Typed numbers and expressions
  • Fractions, exponents and roots
  • Multiple choice
  • Drop-down blanks
  • Tables and numbers in the question

Rounding and format

It reads the instructions in the question too, such as "round to two decimal places", along with the numbers.

Not yet

Graphing and number-line questions, StatCrunch, data that opens in a separate window, and Mastering.

Off on purpose: tests, quizzes, LockDown Browser and Respondus Monitor pages get nothing.

MyLab Math, Statistics and MathXL

Which Pearson courses it covers

This beta is built for MyLab homework in math and statistics.

MyLab Math (the course many schools still call MyMathLab), MyLab Statistics (MyStatLab) and MathXL all open questions in the same MyLab player. Pearson's help says that player has one mode for tests and quizzes, one for homework and Study Plan work, and one for review (Pearson: Answer in the MyLab Player). Canvas Quiz Solver works in homework and stays off in the test and quiz mode.

For statistics homework, read MyLab Statistics answers. If MyLab keeps marking a right answer wrong, our MyMathLab wrong answer guide covers the usual format problems.

Mastering is not supported yet. Mastering Chemistry, Mastering Physics and Mastering Biology are a separate Pearson app, and Canvas Quiz Solver does not read them yet. On a Mastering page nothing shows.

At a glance

  • MyLab Math homework
  • MyLab Statistics homework
  • MathXL homework

On purpose

You stay in control: not a MyLab bot, on purpose

It shows you the answer and stops there. Nothing is typed into MyLab, clicked or submitted for you.

Your tries stay yours

MyLab homework usually gives you three tries per step (Pearson: Do homework). A bot that submits on its own can spend them before you see the answer. Here every Check Answer is yours.

You can check it

Because you read each answer before you type it, you catch the odd one that looks off, and you see the method before the test, where the extension is off.

Limits

Where it does not run

It stays off on MyLab tests, quizzes and proctored pages. It gets around nothing.

Tests, quizzes, LockDown Browser and Respondus

MyLab instructors can lock down a test or quiz with the Pearson LockDown Browser, and then "you cannot open other browser windows or use any other application" (Pearson: Take locked-down tests). Respondus says MyLab testing tools also work with its Respondus Monitor webcam proctoring (Respondus webinar listing). Canvas Quiz Solver is off on every MyLab test and quiz, locked down or not, and on any LockDown Browser or Respondus page: nothing shows. More in can Pearson MyLab detect cheating and does LockDown Browser record you.

Graphs, StatCrunch and pop-up data

Questions where you plot on a graph or a number line are not supported yet, and neither is StatCrunch. Data that opens in a separate window from the magnifying glass icon is not read yet; numbers and tables printed in the question itself are.

Compare

Why not Pearson's own help, AskLabby or a ChatGPT tab?

Each one has a place. Here is the honest version.

Help Me Solve This and View an Example

Pearson's Question Help is good, when your instructor turns it on. Help Me Solve This walks through your actual problem, then gives you a new one with different values (Pearson: Get help on a question). Use it when you want to learn the method.

Answer tools and a chatbot tab

A chatbot tab means retyping the math and carrying the answer back. Paid MyLab tools exist too: AskLabby, for example, lists plans from $9.99 a week and has no free tier. See AskLabby compared.

FAQ

Questions about Pearson MyLab answers

How do I get answers on Pearson MyLab?

Add Canvas Quiz Solver to Chrome, open a MyLab homework assignment, click the extension icon and tap "Turn on for Pearson". You do that once. Each question then shows an AI answer under it, in the same tab, and you type or pick it in MyLab.

Does it work on MyLab tests and quizzes?

No. It stays off on MyLab tests and quizzes and on any page in LockDown Browser or with Respondus Monitor. It works on homework.

Does it type the answer for me?

No. It shows the answer under the question, and you type it into the MyLab answer box, or pick the choice, and click Check Answer yourself. It never types into MyLab, clicks or submits anything.

Does it work on MyMathLab and MyStatLab?

Yes, in beta. It works on homework in MyLab Math (the old MyMathLab), MyLab Statistics (the old MyStatLab) and MathXL.

Does it work on Mastering Chemistry or Mastering Physics?

Not yet. Mastering is a separate Pearson app, and Canvas Quiz Solver does not read it yet. On a Mastering page nothing shows.

Is there a Pearson MyLab answer key?

Not one that matches your homework. Pearson says its algorithmic variations give each student and each attempt a new set of values, so a shared key rarely fits your version. Canvas Quiz Solver answers the question on your screen.

Can it do graphs and StatCrunch?

Not yet. Graphing and number-line questions, StatCrunch and data that opens in a separate window are not supported in this beta.

Is it the same subscription as Canvas?

Yes. One account and one plan cover Pearson MyLab, Canvas quizzes, McGraw Hill Connect and SmartBook, and ALEKS.

Is it free?

You can add it free and try it with free answers. Free answers can run out mid-assignment. Unlimited is $14.99 a month or $48.99 for a 4-month semester.
