Canvas Ninja review: what you get
Canvas Ninja's homepage calls it a "Canvas Hack Extension". It is not related to Canvas Hack Extension, our second brand, or to canvashack.com. Its store listing title, "CanvasNinja - Tab Detection Blocker for Canvas", shows where its focus is.
Canvas Ninja
Privacy Guard intercepts the page_blurred and page_focused events "before they reach Canvas's server", its Chrome extension page says.
Answer Saver reads your previous submissions on quizzes with more than one attempt and pre-fills the correct answers into the next one.
Smart Answers is "an AI assistant" that lives "in a panel inside the Canvas quiz page".
The install is free, but "you only pay when you activate the features": $16.99 a month or $67.99 for life, with a 30-day refund on Lifetime. We found no free answers or trial on their site.
Canvas Quiz Solver
One button on each question. Click it and the answer appears right below that question, on Classic Quizzes and New Quizzes.
Multiple choice, matching, ordering, fill in the blank, essay, image questions and more.
You can start free. After that it is $9.99 a month for unlimited questions, with no credits.
It does not touch the quiz log. It keeps you on the quiz page instead.
Does Canvas Ninja work? What the quiz log records
Start with what Canvas writes down. In Classic Quizzes the log shows "Stopped viewing the Canvas quiz-taking page" when a student "closes the browser tab, opens a new browser tab, or navigates to a different program", and "Resumed" on return (Instructure quiz log guide). The events behind those lines, page_blurred and page_focused, carry no data, so the log never names the tab or the site (Canvas quiz events API). See what the quiz log records when you switch tabs and the Canvas quiz log, event by event.
Canvas Ninja says Privacy Guard stops those events before they reach Canvas; we cannot test that from the outside. Its store listing promises "Your professor sees nothing". Its own FAQ is more careful: Privacy Guard "is designed to reduce supported Canvas quiz focus-event reporting in normal Chrome sessions" and does not bypass lockdown browsers or separate proctoring tools.
On 2026-09-25 the listing showed 575 users and 5.0 stars from only 5 ratings.
A tab blocker is for the moment you leave the quiz. Canvas Quiz Solver gives you no reason to leave. It puts the answer right below the question, inside the Canvas quiz page. You do not open a second tab, you do not copy the question into ChatGPT, and you do not switch windows, so there is no page switch for the quiz log to record. It works on Classic Quizzes and New Quizzes, and you can start free.
Which one should you pick?
Most students who search for Canvas Ninja want the answers. For that job Canvas Quiz Solver is the better pick:
The answer is where you are looking. It shows right below the question it belongs to, not in a separate panel.
You can try it before you pay. There is a free tier. Canvas Ninja's features start at $16.99 a month.
It costs less. $9.99 a month is $7 less than Canvas Ninja's monthly plan, and you get unlimited questions with no credits.
More students have rated it. 4.3 stars from 96 ratings and 2,000 users, against 5 ratings and 575 users for Canvas Ninja, both on the Chrome Web Store on 2026-09-25.
Pick Canvas Ninja if you want a one-time price, retake autofill, or a tool whose main job is the quiz log. Canvas Quiz Solver does none of those.
A Canvas Ninja alternative that answers inside the quiz
Canvas Quiz Solver puts the answer right below the question, inside the Canvas quiz page. You do not open a second tab, you do not copy the question into ChatGPT, and you do not switch windows, so there is no page switch for the quiz log to record. A web page cannot list the Chrome extensions you have installed (see what Canvas can and cannot see about your extensions). It works on Classic Quizzes and New Quizzes. You can start free, then it costs $9.99 a month for unlimited questions. AI answers can be wrong, so check them against your course material.
It does not run inside LockDown Browser, and Honorlock can turn Chrome extensions off during a proctored exam.
