AskSia review: what you get

AskSia calls itself a "College Study AI Copilot": a web app, iOS and Android apps, a desktop agent and a Chrome extension.

AskSia

Course sync. A "Sync to AskSia" button on each Canvas course pulls lectures, slides and readings into AskSia. It is read-only and "never writes to your LMS".

Study tools. Chat with your files, summaries, flashcards, practice quizzes and lecture transcription.

Price. A free plan, then $9, $18 or $25 a month. The extension page says course sync needs A+ ($25).

Canvas Quiz Solver

One button on each question. Click it and the answer appears right below that question, on Classic Quizzes and New Quizzes.

No course upload and no chat window. It does one job: the answer to the question in front of you.

You can start free. After that it is $9.99 a month for unlimited questions, with no credits.

Does AskSia work on Canvas quizzes?

Not as its main job. Its Canvas page is about syncing files, and its extension FAQ says it cannot "take quizzes". Its pricing page says you can highlight anything on any page and Sia "solves it in one click", but not where that answer shows on a quiz page. We did not test it. Paste the question into the AskSia web app instead, and on a computer that is a second tab.

What the Canvas quiz log records when you use a study app

In Classic Quizzes the log shows "Stopped viewing the Canvas quiz-taking page" when a student "closes the browser tab, opens a new browser tab, or navigates to a different program", and "Resumed" on return (Instructure quiz log guide). The events behind those lines, page_blurred and page_focused, carry no data, so the log never names the tab or the app (Canvas quiz events API). It shows that you left, not where you went. See what the quiz log records when you switch tabs and the Canvas quiz log, event by event.

Canvas Quiz Solver puts the answer right below the question, inside the Canvas quiz page. You do not open a second tab, you do not copy the question into AskSia or ChatGPT, and you do not switch windows, so there is no page switch for the quiz log to record. It works on Classic Quizzes and New Quizzes, and you can start free.

Which one should you use?

For a Canvas quiz, Canvas Quiz Solver is the better pick:

The answer is where you are looking, right below its question. No copy-paste into another app, no second tab for the quiz log to record.

It is built for Canvas quizzes, Classic and New. AskSia's site does not say it supports either.

No setup. No course sync or uploads. Open the quiz and click.

One price. A free tier, then $9.99 a month for unlimited questions. AskSia Plus is $9, but its extension page says course sync needs A+ at $25.

Pick AskSia to study: lecture transcription, notes, flashcards and chat across your course files, on your phone too. Canvas Quiz Solver does none of those.

An AskSia alternative that answers inside the quiz

Canvas Quiz Solver puts the answer right below the question, inside the Canvas quiz page. You do not open a second tab, you do not copy the question into AskSia or ChatGPT, and you do not switch windows, so there is no page switch for the quiz log to record. A web page cannot list the Chrome extensions you have installed (see what Canvas can and cannot see about your extensions). It works on Classic Quizzes and New Quizzes. You can start free, then it costs $9.99 a month for unlimited questions. AI answers can be wrong, so check them against your course material.

It does not run inside LockDown Browser, and Honorlock can turn Chrome extensions off during a proctored exam.

Common questions

Is AskSia free?

It has a free plan. Paid plans are Plus $9, Super $18 and A+ $25 a month (asksia.ai, checked 2026-09-25). The extension is free to install, but its extension page says course sync needs A+. Canvas Quiz Solver has a free tier, then costs $9.99 a month.

Is AskSia legit? What do the reviews say?

It is a real study app. On 2026-09-25 its Chrome Web Store listing showed 5.0 stars from 17 ratings and 5,000 users. Canvas Quiz Solver showed 4.3 stars from 96 ratings and 2,000 users.

Does AskSia work on Canvas quizzes?

Its site does not say where an answer shows on a Canvas quiz page, and its extension FAQ says it cannot "take quizzes". Canvas Quiz Solver puts the answer right below each question, on Classic Quizzes and New Quizzes.

Can Canvas detect AskSia?

A web page cannot list the Chrome extensions you have installed, so Canvas does not see either tool by name. The quiz log records the quiz page losing focus, for example when you paste a question into AskSia in another tab. Canvas Quiz Solver keeps the answer on the quiz page. Proctored exams are a different case, covered in our guide to Chrome extensions and Canvas.

Does AskSia refund you if your grades do not go up?

Only on A+. If you end below an A- and did not improve by one full letter grade, it refunds the A+ fees, but only if you met its terms: the full term on A+, at least 75% of your course materials uploaded, and use on 3 days a week for 15 weeks. Canvas Quiz Solver makes no grade promise.

What is a good AskSia alternative for Canvas quizzes?

Canvas Quiz Solver. The answer shows right below the question, with a free tier, then $9.99 a month for unlimited questions. For lecture transcription, notes and flashcards, AskSia does those and Canvas Quiz Solver does not.

Answers inside Canvas, without leaving the page
