What an A&P Connect course asks you

An anatomy and physiology course in Connect mixes four kinds of work: SmartBook reading, chapter homework and quizzes, labeling on figures, and lab tools.

Each piece is built differently, so each piece works differently with Canvas Quiz Solver. Here is the usual mix, from McGraw Hill's own anatomy and physiology page and what A&P students meet in Connect:

  1. SmartBook chapters. Adaptive reading with short questions. You rate your confidence on each one, and SmartBook asks more about the concepts you miss.
  2. Homework and chapter quizzes. Question pages in the Connect player: multiple choice, true/false, check all that apply, matching, fill in the blank and ordering.
  3. Labeling questions. A figure of a bone, a muscle group or an organ, with labels to drag onto it or spots to click.
  4. Anatomy & Physiology Revealed (APR) and Virtual Labs. McGraw Hill calls APR "an interactive, customizable dissection tool". Virtual Labs are lab simulations with pre-lab and post-lab questions.

The first two are question pages, and they are what the extension answers. The last two are not supported yet, and the next sections say exactly what you see on each.

Which A&P questions it answers

It answers A&P multiple choice, true/false, check all that apply, matching, fill in the blank and ordering questions in Connect homework, quizzes and SmartBook.

The answer shows in the page, under the question. You read it, pick the option yourself, and move on. Nothing is clicked or submitted for you.

The question at the top of this page is multiple choice. Here is a made-up fill in the blank of the kind an A&P urinary system quiz asks, and what the card says:

Sample question · fill in the blank

The microscopic functional unit of the kidney, which filters blood and forms urine, is the ________.

Answer cardnephron

You type the word in the blank yourself. On a question with two blanks, the card gives one word per blank, in order.

Matching is common in A&P: organelles to functions, bones to regions, hormones to glands. The card lists every pair, one per line, so you set each match yourself.

Ordering questions, such as the path of blood through the heart or the steps of muscle contraction, get the order as a numbered list.

It sends the figure too. On McGraw Hill pages the extension sends the question's pictures, and their alt text, to the AI with the question text and the choices. A question that is all words, like the samples on this page, is the easy case. A question such as "Which structure is labeled 4?" depends on reading the figure, so its answer can be wrong. Check those yourself.

What it does not answer: labeling, APR and virtual labs

Labeling and hotspot questions on figures are not supported yet, on Connect and on SmartBook.

On a labeling question you drag names onto a figure, and on a hotspot question you click a spot on it. The extension does not read those question types. Instead of a guess, it shows one quiet line under the question: "This question type isn't supported yet."

You answer that question yourself, and the answers come back on the next supported question.

APR. The dissection tool and its activities are not supported. If your instructor builds a regular Connect quiz from APR content, its multiple choice and matching questions read like any other question page.

Virtual Labs. These are external tools, so the extension does not answer them.

Proctored exams. If your A&P exam uses Proctorio or a similar tool, the extension stays off. The popup says "Not available on proctored exams." and nothing shows on the page.

Why A&P answer keys and Quizlet decks miss

A deck or a PDF answer key is a copy of someone else's assignment, and your Connect assignment is often not the same one.

Instructors build Connect assignments from question banks, and McGraw Hill's question bank guide lets them add question pools. With a pool, each student can get a different set of questions, in a different order. A deck titled "A&P exam 1" then has some of your questions, phrased a little differently, with the choices in another order.

You spend the time searching, and a near match can be the wrong answer.

Old exam PDFs have a second problem: A&P textbook editions change, and McGraw Hill says its Evergreen model delivers "new and updated content" straight into Connect courses.

Canvas Quiz Solver reads the question that is on your screen, with your choices, and answers that. There is nothing to search and no second tab.

SmartBook for A&P

SmartBook chapters can take a long time in A&P, and the answer shows right above the High, Medium and Low buttons.

A&P chapters have a lot of terms, so SmartBook can ask a lot of questions before a chapter is done. Every miss means more questions on that concept. With the answer on the question, each one is read, pick, rate, next.

SmartBook in A&P uses multiple choice, true/false, multi-select, fill in the blank, matching and ordering, and the extension reads all six. The "Read About the Concept" steps are reading, so no answer shows there.

A&P on McGraw Hill, answered

Is there a McGraw Hill anatomy and physiology answer key?

Not for students. McGraw Hill keeps its answer material for instructors. The PDFs and decks online are copies of other students' assignments, and Connect question pools mean your questions can differ. Canvas Quiz Solver answers the question on your screen instead.

Does it work on A&P labeling questions?

Not yet. Labeling and hotspot questions on figures are not supported, on Connect or SmartBook. The extension shows "This question type isn't supported yet." under them, and you answer those yourself.

Does it work on my A&P exam?

On an exam without proctoring, yes, for the supported question types. On a proctored exam (Proctorio and similar) it stays off: the popup says "Not available on proctored exams." and nothing shows on the page.

Does it work on APR or Virtual Labs?

No. The APR dissection tool and Virtual Labs are not supported. Regular Connect quiz questions built from APR content read like any other question page.

Can it read the pictures in A&P questions?

Yes. It sends the pictures in a question, and their alt text, with the question text and the choices. A choice that is only a picture is named by its alt text or file name. A figure with numbered labels, such as "Which structure is labeled 4?", can still be misread, so check those yourself. Labeling and hotspot questions, where you drag names onto a figure or click a spot, are not supported yet.

Is it free?

You get free answers to try it on a real assignment. Unlimited answers are $14.99 a month, or $48.99 every 4 months, with a 7-day money-back guarantee. One plan covers Connect, SmartBook and Canvas.
