QuizMate vs Canvas Quiz Solver for McGraw Hill SmartBook and Connect
QuizMate is a study app and a Chrome extension. On McGraw Hill, its extension adds a button to SmartBook questions and shows the answer in a popup. Here is what it does, what it costs, and how it compares on Connect and SmartBook.
QuizMate's in-page button covers SmartBook and Canvas quizzes. On Connect you are back to snapshots.
- The extension has 30,000 users and a 4.4 rating from 128 ratings on the Chrome Web Store.
- On SmartBook it adds a button to each question and shows the answer in its own popup box.
- Plans run $7.99 a week or $19.99 a month.
- Canvas Quiz Solver shows the answer under the question on Connect and SmartBook. You pick and submit.
Our pickCanvas Quiz Solver works on McGraw Hill Connect and SmartBook (beta), plus Canvas quizzes. The answer sits with the question, and you stay in control.
Add to Chrome - freeWhat QuizMate is (app and extension)
QuizMate (quizmate.io) sells three things under one plan. Its site says it is “used by 2M+ students”.
- Mobile app: on the App Store. You take a photo of a question and get an answer with an explanation.
- Chrome extension: 30,000 users, rated 4.4 out of 5 from 128 ratings, version 5.1.87, updated 8 October 2026 (Chrome Web Store).
- Study Hub: lecture notes, flashcards, practice quizzes, essays and a resume builder.
Most people who search “quizmate” want the app. This page is about the extension, because that is the part that runs on your McGraw Hill pages.
Its listing says it works with “Canvas, McGraw Hill, Blackboard, Moodle, and many more”. You can highlight a question, right-click and pick “Ask QuizMate”, or capture it with Snapshot; “a popup will appear with the correct answer”. Its site says it handles multiple choice, short answer, essay questions and math problems.
Prices on the site: $7.99 a week, $19.99 a month, or $10.99 a month billed yearly. The pages we read say nothing about proctored exams.
QuizMate on SmartBook
We read the code of version 5.1.87 to see what it does on McGraw Hill pages.
- A button per question: it adds its own button to SmartBook multiple choice, multiple select and matching questions, and to Canvas classic quiz questions.
- The answer: shows in QuizMate's popup box on the page, not under the question.
- Auto Select Answers: a setting, off by default. When you turn it on, it clicks the choice for you, or fills the matching boxes.
- Connect: we found no code for Connect assignment pages. There you use Snapshot, because Connect quiz pages turn off the right-click menu that “Ask QuizMate” needs (see copying on McGraw Hill).
So QuizMate is a real in-page option on SmartBook, with the answer in a popup box. On Connect homework and quizzes, it works like any screenshot tool.

Connect, not just SmartBook
Canvas Quiz Solver reads Connect assignment and quiz questions on the page. The answer appears right under the question, in the same tab. You click the option, press Next, and the next question gets its own answer. On SmartBook the answer sits above the High, Medium and Low buttons.
- Connect assignments and quizzes: multiple choice, true/false, yes/no, check all that apply, fill in the blank, numeric, matching, ranking, short answer and essay.
- SmartBook: multiple choice, true/false, multi-select, fill in the blank, matching and ordering.
- Setup: add it from the Chrome Web Store, open the assignment, click the extension icon, and tap “Keep it on for this site”. After that it is on for every assignment there.
- Where it stops: it does not run on proctored exams. Accounting worksheets, the accounting tool, external tools such as virtual labs, SIMnet and ALEKS, file uploads and the older Connect player show “This question type isn't supported yet.”
- One account: the same plan covers Canvas quizzes too. It is in beta on McGraw Hill. Answers come from AI and can be wrong, so you stay the one who decides.

Its Chrome Web Store listing names McGraw Hill among the sites it works with.
